Visit Description
This is a tour for incoming freshmen at the University of Washington who are taking a jump-start course, ARTSCI 162H. In this course, we explore the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world's most powerful particle accelerator, and its role in testing cutting-edge quantum theories and searching for dark matter. We discuss the groundbreaking discovery of the Higgs boson and how quantum physics helps explain some of the universe's biggest mysteries. Additionally, we examine the application of AI algorithms in analyzing the vast amounts of data generated by the LHC, enabling scientists to identify potential new particles and phenomena.
