In this PostDoc Masterclass event, two scientists will discuss how to share research findings effectively so the research can best impact the world.

Dr. Rankin will share findings from her quantitative study and also from her meta-study of over 300 studies that she synthesized as a set of data reporting standards shown to increase an audience’s understanding of viewed data by up to 436%. Others can follow these standards to best share and display research findings and other data. Dr. Goldfarb exemplifies how scientists can proactively share research findings with different audiences, and he will be used as a positive example in Dr. Rankin’s portion of the class.

Dr. Goldfarb will then visit the Cambridge students virtually from CERN, the lab where he and colleagues use the Large Hadron Collider to smash particles together and discovered – for the first time – proof of the Higgs boson, an elementary particle in the Standard Model of particle physics. He will also answer questions from students along the way.
