Glasgow

We are organizing an event that will involve the
undergraduate students of the University of Glasgow, in the School of
Physics and Astronomy. We’ll invite them to join the virtual visit to give
them the opportunity to see what happens in a HEP experiment and ask
questions on ATLAS and particle physics. The aim is to show to people
interested in physics but not (yet) involved in particle physics how the
research in this field works and in particular at CERN and using the ATLAS
detector. The virtual visit with the control room will provide an initial idea
about what is studied at CERN and how, and will also help the students to
understand the meaning of working in a big collaboration with such an
advanced and complicated detector. Moreover since the Glasgow group is
actively working on detector develop, maintenance and data analysis in
ATLAS It will also allow the students to engage with research ongoing in
their own University.
