ATLAS Virtual Visits
A Virtual Visit is a live video connection by a group (typically a classroom) to the ATLAS Experiment at CERN. A guide, who is a scientist or an engineer working on the experiment, meets visitors from the control room or (during planned LHC shutdowns) from the detector underground.
During a Virtual Visit, guides will
- Introduce themselves and describe their work in particle physics.
- Present CERN, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), and the ATLAS experiment, including its goals and accomplishments.
- Invite questions from the audience.
We recommend audiences prepare questions ahead of time. This can be facilitated by viewing this introductory video.

Groups of at least 10 visitors (such as classrooms) can schedule their own visit by completing this form.
Upcoming Virtual Visits
The exposition the "Physics that Binds Us" will be initiated in Natal, following a large number of virtual visits of the IFRN to the ATLAS cavern. During the exposition, the importance of the Virtual Visits to the general public and students education will be discussed. Members of the public will be able to se the ATLAS Cavern and discuss with experts on the field. The visit will start around 11:30 in Natal (16:30 in Switzerland). The visit is organized by professor Amadeu Albino Junior (IFRN) and the researcher Denis Oliveira Damazio (USATLAS/CERN) from Switzerland. A exposição "A Física que nos Conecta" terá início em Natal, dando sequência a uma série de visitas virtuais realizadas pelo IFRN à caverna do experimento ATLAS. Durante a exposição, será discutida a importância dessas visitas virtuais para o público em geral e para a educação dos estudantes. O público poderá visualizar a caverna do ATLAS e conversar com especialistas da área. A visita começará por volta das 11h30 em Natal (16h30 na Suíça). O evento é organizado pelo professor Amadeu Albino Junior (IFRN) e pelo pesquisador Denis Oliveira Damazio (USATLAS/CERN), que está na Suíça.

Join us for an Open ATLAS Virtual Visit, hosted by ATLAS physicists Christian Appelt and Despoina Sampsonidou.
This live virtual event will take you inside the ATLAS cavern at CERN, offering a rare opportunity to see the ATLAS detector up close before the cavern is closed for LHC operation. From 100 meters underground, the hosts will guide you around one of the world’s largest and most sophisticated scientific instruments.
Participants will learn about the ATLAS experiment's scientific goals and current research. There will also be time for live questions and discussion with the physicists.
This virtual visit is open to everyone with an interest in particle physics and technology.
The visit will take place via Zoom, and pre-registration is required.
